I work on industrial policy, MSME training and productivity, smallholder agricultural and financial inclusion, growth diagnostics, and other related areas with the Harvard Center for International Development's Growth Lab, LSE's Growth Co-Lab, Hacer Peru, and various multilaterals. I am currently working on MYPE Asesor IA, a tool leveraging generative AI for entrepreneurial training, and am leading its development and testing in Peru (see mypeasesoria.org for more information).
Previously, I was the co-founder, CEO & Executive Chairman of the Entrepreneurial Finance Lab, which pioneered the use of psychometrics for credit assessment of the unbanked, and lead its initial research initiative at CID, spin-off, scale-up to over 25 countries, and sale. I have extensive research and policy experience relating to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial training, innovation, and industrial policy, have published books and articles in journals such as Science and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. I have a Masters in Public Administration in International Development from the Kennedy School of Government, and a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University.
